If you stick 'am' and 'eise' together you get ameise, which is the German word for 'ants'. I have no clue who is behind this project, but I assume it's an one man project, armed with a bunch of sound effects (delay, reverb, distortion), some electronics, a contact microphone attached to metal objects, maybe some field recordings and a microphone. The whole thing is also released by Ralmic Records, which seems a new name for me. Am.eise seems to take his cues from the world of good ol' industrial music, which means it isn't that loud at all the time, but to call this anything like 'relaxing' is also not really possible. There is something quite depressing about this music, which it's sighing down a microphone, dark rumble of sound effects on that microphone, water dripping with a lot of reverb. There are ten tracks here and it's close to an hour, which on a nice sunny afternoon is all a bit much to take in. I perhaps would love to have some mild and relaxing (perhaps that Ozedmir CD I review elsewhere, providing some sunshine), but having said I think what Am.eise does is not bad at all. It seems to me that he knows what he is doing, technology wise and some of the pieces are perhaps a bit long, I thought, but if you love some fine Nordic noise in the best tradition of Cold Meat Industry then let this depress you on end and enjoy it.

Attenuation Circuit est un label indépendant originaire d’Augsburg et dont la production est dédiée aux audaces expérimentales, industrielles et électroniques sans réelle distinction de genre. Ce dernier est actif depuis les années 2000 et est né de l’initiative de Sascha Stadlmeier alias Emerge. L’essentielle des parutions est proposée dans un double format, Cdr et numérique. Alm.eise est déjà un artiste « maison » qui nous offre ici un très isolationniste, abstrait et post-apocalyptique Walled-off.

La tendance industrielle, aliénante et glauque est bien au rendez-vous dans ce nouvel opus on ne peut plus cérébral et inquiétant. Les plages s’enchainent pour dévoiler une partition digne de fin du monde ou bruitages métalliques, cramoisis et rouillés côtoient des manipulations de textures sonores amorphes, parfois cybernétiques et enveloppantes. Des voix malades et détraquées bourrées d’échos viennent noircir le tableau.
On s’enfonce inexorablement dans une brume cafardeuse et cauchemardesque où aucune lueur d’espoir n’est envisageable. En bref Walled-off est une plongée dans un univers post-industriel décadent, atmosphérique et froid qu’on saura sûrement conseiller aux amateurs de paysages sonores agonisants et mouvementés de Whitehouse, SPK, Chris & Cosey, Nurse with Wound et j’en passe.

Mit verhallendem Raunen taucht man ein in ein walled-off (ACK 1043, CD-R). Diese vokalen Echowellen sind das Erkennungsmerkmal von AM.EISE, der auch als Acid Discharge bei Phonographia mitmischt, und einen hier in seiner dröhnenden Geisterbahn mit eisigen Impulsen überschauert, als Knusperhexe hänselt, eben noch mit Babystimmchen, jetzt dämonisch rau oder oder wie am Ersticken. Das Kaskadieren suggeriert Tiefe, submarin, höhlenartig oder als Senke, von einem eisigen Wind durchfaucht, von eisernem Rauschen durchschnitten. Die Stimmen gehen in schwallendem, impulsiv aufgerührtem Gebrodel irgendwann verloren. Erst am Ende wellen sich wieder Rufe über einer rhythmischen Mechanik und einem turbinenartigen Surren.
